UNIST Community Takes Part in Neighborhood Park Cleanup

Rain fell steadily over Guyeong Park on May 27 as members of the UNIST community moved through the walking trails with litter pickers and trash bags in hand.

About 20 staff members volunteered for the community cleanup effort, held as part of the university's monthly  Volunteer Day initiative. Throughout the afternoon, participants collected litter, cleared walkways, and tidied tree-lined areas across one of the neighborhood's most frequently used public parks.

Located near the university in Ulju County, Guyeong Park is a familiar gathering place for both local residents and the UNIST community. Despite the wet weather, volunteers worked across walking trails and green spaces used daily by residents for leisure and relaxation.

Organized under the theme “ Bringing the Spirit of Pioneers to the Community ,” the event reflected UNIST's ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with surrounding neighborhoods.

The General Affairs Team said the university plans to continue expanding employee-led volunteer and outreach programs that encourage sustained involvement in community service activities throughout the year.
