This month, Astria Hijriani successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis in the Department of Industrial Engineering, UNIST via an online defense.
On 18 December 2025. Astria presented her dissertation titled “Business Value of Process Mining: Concepts, Contingencies, and Maturity.” Her thesis develops an integrated perspective on how organisations realise business value from process mining by: (1) synthesising business value concepts from IS, BI, and BPM, (2) identifying negative contingencies that hinder value realisation, and (3) proposing and evaluating a holistic process mining maturity model.
The Ph.D. committee consisted of Prof. Marco Comuzzi (Department of Industrial Engineering, UNIST; Advisor), Prof. Chiehyeon Lim (Department of Industrial Engineering, UNIST), Prof. Lu Zhang (School of Business Administration, UNIST), Prof. Mahendrawathi ER (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia), and Dr. Rehan Syed (Queensland University of Technology, Australia).
Astria Hijriani joined the Ph.D. program in Industrial Engineering at UNIST in February 2022. Following her graduation, she will continue her academic career as a lecturer at the University of Lampung, Indonesia.
